TRUMP IS A FOOL GROPING FOR ANY PLATFORM.
There is no end in sight for the current nightmare that is overtaking everything, everywhere. The hubris of the current American president is unsparing. The image of European leaders sitting in front of Trump, who remains unmoved behind his desk, reminds us of Gestapo techniques.
If it were only about intimidation (between, supossedly, allies?) we have seen it all in the past, and, unfortunately so, better. Nowadays, it is actually more ominous and dramatic. The world order is a thing of the past, alas. There is little left to destroy. What is becoming clearer by the day is that the United States are no longer to be trusted and that Trump's transactional way of getting rid of one problem a day is creating chaos and prolonging perverse ambiguities. At the end of the day he may look like some tasteless decorator who sits in his guilded oval office like some fat nasty hen which cannot muster an egg...but that doesn't make him less vicious.
Putin's last little bomb spray in Kiev is no accident either. By hitting the EU and the UK he made his intentions cristal clear. One can bet that France might be next.
The pile of flashpoints adds up. The chorus of unpleasant players grows by the day. Trump plays with people and with tariffs. It is time for payback, otherwise the matchpoint will never return to its righfull owners. Europeans have to rally around the ideas of President Macron and get rid of their timidity.
Anyway, the months to come will see some other ceremonial parody, White House made, that will make Putin and Kim Jong Un purr...they will be spared the humiliation that befell the EU. One must hope that the British would cancel Trump's state visit, but that is a bridge too far maybe. What does it take for Europeans to live up to the expectations that others still share ? Let Trump be guilty by association and let sanctions be sanctions. It is time to rewind Europe's moral clock. Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan require weaponized indignation.
The EU better skips American approval and reinvent itself.
